2012-01-17 [Ravendust]: I'll say this- the bishop series that I suggested aren't necessarily connected except for the last 3 books, so you could, say, read them out of order and not be totally confused in the process if it came down to it! xD

2012-01-17 [Avaz]: I noticed! :D I wonder if you're going to fall as head over heels as I am about the books. FWIW, these two books are my most favorite books ever, even beating out the Chronicles of Narnia. And that's an insane feat. :F

2012-01-17 [Nioniel]: Okay, cool. ^^

Ah, I love the Chronicles of Narnia... :)

2012-01-17 [Nioniel]: So the first chapter of "The Name of the Wind" is probably the most perfect first chapter I've ever read. Excellent beginning.

2012-01-18 [Avaz]: I know! I have so much love for this book. ^_^ Pat Rothfuss is easily my favorite author of all time.

2012-01-18 [Nioniel]: It's so good. :3 When I got it from the Library, it's this teeny hardcover with suuuper small print and I practically have to break the binding to read the words closest to middle of the book since it was put together too tightly, but it's totally worth it so far. :P Then the second book came in today, and it's this huuuge hardcover in large print that's about four times the size of the first book. I lol'd.

2012-01-18 [Avaz]: XD I'm kind of surprised at the small-print size of the first book. The paperback version I have is a good two inches thick, if not more. But lol at the second book! That's more like it.:D

2012-01-18 [Nioniel]: Oh yeah, the first one is thick, but small. The second one is just sooo much bigger.

2012-01-18 [Linderel]: Smaller costs less. They were probably worried it wouldn't have any success or something, so they minimised the printing budget. My theory, anyway. :P

2012-01-18 [Nioniel]: :)

2012-01-18 [Avaz]: To be fair, Lindy, it was his first officially published book. And now look, he's on the NY Times' bestsellers list, and his books were voted pretty freakin' high on that one "Best Sci-fi/Fantasy Books of All Time" list - I think BBC did that?

2012-01-18 [Viking]: I had never heard of him before. But I see his series is on this list:
http://m.io9.com/5876715/10-great-fantasy-series-to-read-while-youre-waiting-for-george-rr-martins-next-book

2012-01-18 [Avaz]: Yep. I'll say it again, favorite author of all time. :D

2012-01-18 [Linderel]: [Avaz]: Yes, I thought it might be a debut book. Hence the theory about minimising costs.

2012-01-18 [Avaz]: Aye, makes sense. :)

2012-01-18 [Sideways]: Hai! Nioniel-Sama! You shallt read:

Everything's Eventual by Stephen King

A Song of Ice and Fire: Book I: A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin

and

Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut

these are like my top three all time novels. Each frickin amazing in their own way!

Also answer your messages, dang you!

2012-01-18 [Nioniel]: Not much of a fan of Stephen King, but I'll look into that one. :3

Definitely gonna check out Ice & Fire. ^^

2012-01-18 [Avaz]: You haven't already read the Song of Ice and Fire books yet? I thought you did.

2012-01-18 [Nioniel]: Nope.

2012-01-18 [Sideways]: No spoilers! I'm only on book II A Clash of Kings

if you wanna know how good it is, and what it's about, imagine King Arthur meets LotR, only both Arthur and LotR are Pansy disneyworld shit in comparison.

2012-01-18 [Nioniel]: :D
